Hilltop MTB's youth athlete performance & development programming is our enriched training environment for passionate and dedicated young mountain bike athletes interested in developing mastery and excellence on-and-off the bike!  Our training philosophy is based on Hilltop MTB founder's background as a long-time competitor on the Canadian National Gymnastics Team, and extensive history of World Cup Downhill and Enduro Mountain Bike Racing.

Our athlete-centered approach to coaching, is underpinned by the pillars of "FUN, FITNESS & FUNDAMENTALS". 

Our programs aim to create a space for not only mountain bike skill development and competitive strategy, but also to provide a training ground for virtues such as integrity, respect, resilience, and self-improvement & worth that is not tied to results or achievements… all while having fun!

As Hilltop MTB riders have come to expect, our holistic training environment centers around fostering a "growth mindset" and positive sense of community belonging.   

A fun and supportive program for our more experienced young riders, you can expect:

Our performance & development programming is geared towards strong-intermediate to advanced youth, committed to progression and personal growth, both on and off the bike.

Ages 11-18*

Interested riders may range from those already competing or coaching, to those considering entering into the competition or coaching spheres in the future.

New to a performance development journey/able to commit to weekly practices, & some local racing.

DAILY TRAINING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Inter-Club races.

Limited experience in my development journey. Planning to race & interested in opportunities for more than one weekly practice.

All Hilltop MTB Development Teams include regular athlete check-ins, periodized training plans and a 2023 team kit.

**Note that costs do NOT include the cost of a Whistler Bike Park Pass.

APPLICATION PROCCESS

All athletes that are interested in our athlete development programs must fill out an application. 

We do this to ensure a committed group of athletes are enrolled.

The application period launches December 15th 2022 and will be open until January 15th, 2023.  All applications will be reviewed and a rider/parent interview will be arranged.

2-DAY SPRING TRAINING CAMP:  

This youth performance and development training camp aims to start the season off on the right foot with an action-packed weekend that dives into skill development, mental strength techniques and competitive strategy coaching!  

When:  

March 11/12 - Vancouver Island​

Cost:  $385 +GST

 

This collaborative camp may be booked as a stand-alone camp, or is included as part of the Sea to Sky Gravity Club or Hilltop MTB Athlete Development Team annual package.

SEA TO SKY GRAVITY CLUB

Ages 11-18*

MONTHLY COLLABORATIVE TRAINING CAMPS:

Hilltop MTB and Strand Training are teaming up again to bring you the "SEA TO SKY GRAVITY CLUB".  Experience unique training environments, meet new training friends, learn, and grow with other likeminded riders in the Sea to Sky Area and beyond!

Inside this supportive environment, youth can expect:

  • Monthly training camps, exploring skill development, mental strength techniques and competitive strategy coaching.  

  • Integrated workshops that explore topics such as goal setting, concussion testing, and concussion awareness will be incorporated.

  • ​Athlete check-ins, as requested, to discuss progress and competition preparedness.

When:  All programming takes place between March & October, 2023*.​

  • Saturday/Sunday March 11/12 Weekend Training Camp on Vancouver Island

  • Saturday April 15th

  • Saturday May 13th

  • Saturday June 10th

  • Saturday September 16th

  • Friday October 20th

10 am – 4pm.  Taking place in various locations including Squamish, Whistler, Vancouver Island, North Shore Bike Park etc.

For all of our athlete development programs, our aim is to provide INCLUSIVE programming.  As such, in-House scholarship opportunities for our development clubs are available upon request.

 

You may also apply for grant funding through the programs below.

Also for those in need, who are capable, goal oriented, community-minded, and in love with mountain biking, we encourage you to apply for the "Shred Athletic Society Scholarship Program".

Installment programs are also available to help make programming costs more manageable.
